Frequently asked questions

Short answers for students, parents, and teachers. The blog goes into more depth. The Past papers menu in the site header groups board- and country-specific overviews in one place.

  1. What is ExamAnchor?

ExamAnchor is a web app for Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel exam preparation. It brings past question papers and official mark schemes into one focused workspace, with tools to track which papers you have completed, log marks, and see progress over time. Step-by-step worked solutions are rolling out subject by subject during the open beta.

  2. Why did you build ExamAnchor?

We believe past papers and official mark schemes should be easy to reach for every student on these boards, including in places where tutoring or extra support is limited. ExamAnchor is a modern workspace so you can practise, see progress, and improve on your own timetable. We started in Sri Lanka and build for Cambridge and Edexcel learners worldwide. A fuller statement is on the Why ExamAnchor page linked from the footer and home page.

  3. Is ExamAnchor free?

Yes. Core access to past papers, mark schemes, the paper + mark scheme workspace, completion tracking, and score trends is free to use. A future premium tier is planned for broader step-by-step workings across O Level and A Level; it is not required to use the core library today.

  4. Which exam boards and levels do you support?

Cambridge International and Edexcel: O Level (including IGCSE-style International GCSE routes where you take Edexcel) is available in the app. Full A Level coverage is coming soon. ExamAnchor is not affiliated with Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson, or any exam board; we provide an independent study platform that uses their syllabuses and papers for educational practice.

  5. What is the difference between IGCSE and O Level on ExamAnchor?

Boards use different names for similar qualifications. Students often see “O Level” for Cambridge, “IGCSE” or “International GCSE” for Cambridge or Edexcel. On ExamAnchor you choose your board and subject; we group coverage under Cambridge O Level and Edexcel O Level in the app. The blog has a short article that walks through the naming; find it in the blog index. It does not replace official syllabus or entry advice from your school.

  6. Do you include full step-by-step solutions for every question?

Not yet for every subject and session. The platform is in open beta: past papers and mark schemes are available throughout; step-by-step workings are being added over time. What is available is shown in the app and improves as we expand coverage.

  7. Can I use ExamAnchor if I do not live in Sri Lanka?

Yes. Cambridge and Edexcel qualifications are used by international schools worldwide. ExamAnchor is built to support anyone preparing for these boards, not only one country. We also have a page for students and parents in Sri Lanka, where we are based and where many of our early users learn.

  8. Is ExamAnchor an official Cambridge or Edexcel product?

No. ExamAnchor is made by Adeptus Pvt Ltd. Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson, Edexcel, and related names and marks are trademarks of their respective owners. We use past papers and mark schemes for educational practice only; always confirm final exam details with your school or the official board.

  9. How is ExamAnchor different from downloading PDFs?

You still work with real exam material, but in one place: find papers and mark schemes by subject and session, view paper and mark scheme side by side, mark what you have done, and track marks over time. That reduces the friction of juggling many files across devices and helps you see coverage and trends clearly.

  10. How do I get started?

Create a free account on the ExamAnchor app with no credit card required. You can use it on a modern web browser; sign in, pick your board and subject, and open a past paper to practise.
